run for the roses

I cannot tell you how excited I am to be supporting our veterans in the 35th Annual Run for the Roses 5k. Many of you know me, and you know that I am not a runner at all, but this year, I have decided to do things that take me out of my comfort zone and place me in the risk-taker zone. There can be no growth without taking a risk. In this case, my participation is a win-win. I get to join others in support of out veterans and I get to grow a little more as well. What’s not to love about that? Oh, and did I mention, I get a rose when I’m done.

Kids are welcome, so if you are around and would like to enjoy the 60 degree weather on Sunday (Feb. 8), come out and root for the runners, but most of all, support the veterans. They need us.

Run for the Roses–  One of the oldest 5K’s in the Triangle, the Run for the Roses (where all female 5K finishers receive a rose) offers a fun-filled afternoon for the family to raise money to benefit Canines for Service, an organization which trains service dogs for people with limited mobility and Team Red, White and Blue NC, an organization with the mission to enrich the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. I made, and it felt great!
